The Nightmare known as song making
This is a nightmare to create. I have chosen the song 'Believer' by Imagine Dragons to cover over of for my assessment. But the thing is, it is incredibly hard as I have to get the drum part down, the bass line piece and the guitar chords as well as the melody for the piano to play as the vocal substitute.
I am using the website known as 'Bandlab' to make and create the cover. I have first tried to get the beat down so I can work off of it as my backing. Like a spinal cord of a skeleton, doesn't work without it.
WEEK 1: (week 9,school)
After learning the drum's part, which was quite simple, I was now trying to create it in time with the song. For inspiration, I scouted through the web to find any other covers of this song. Fortunately, I found a cover which turned the original song into a rock version by using an electric guitar and louder drums to add emotion.
Inspired, I decided to try adding a bass line to the cover I was creating. I do not have an electric guitar so I had to go with a piano for the melody as I was not going to sing the song.
Week 2: (week 10, school)
Week 2 was the week of trying to learn the melody. I tried searching for it via transcript or score. After finding a piece, I tried to play it. Very challenging as the notes were all over the place with extra notes which I haven't learnt yet.
Confused, I turned to YouTube to find an easier version of the melody to learn. I successfully did find a piece and got to work on learning it.
Week 1, Term 2
After releasing that I needed to work on a score, I quickly had to create one. Also, extended due date to Monday the 11th of May. This took away a little bit of stress as I hadn't done that much yet except for my song.
The song was coming along extremely quickly as I intended it to be very difficult. The chorus was recorded as well as the versus as a whole and only need the Bridge done and the 5 verse for the finishing touch.
this still is a nightmare to do.
Week 2, Term 2
Week 2 of term 2 and I have fully completed my song! I changed the structure around after completing the song and added some synth tools and piano to change it from the original piece which had electric guitars and bass guitars.
I have almost finished the score and I am planning to finish it on the night I upload this!
Anyway, next week is the last week of creating it before posting it to the site!
